RIM’s Blackberry Curve 8980 Coming Soon

FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has recently revealed an unannounced BlackBerry handset, the BlackBerry Curve 8980. The said smartphone is also basically similar to the famous BlackBerry 8900. And it appears that it’s going to be on quad-band GSM/EDGE too. Furthermore, FCC documents shows that the unannounced phone will have Bluetooth, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, full QWERTY keyboard, 3.2 MP camera with flash, 3.5mm headset jack, and an optical trackpad.

Since this model has yet to be announced, not much is known about it other than previous reports which put its RAM at 256MB, twice that of the Curve 8900. A trackpad also replaces the 8900′s trackball. The FCC documents reveal support for AT&T’s 850MHZ and 1900MHz GSM/EDGE bands, but no 3G radio, which is par for the course with the Curve 8xxx models, save for the Curve 8530.

In addition to that image, the specs that we can mention include support for quad-band GSM/EDGE, 256MB flash memory, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, microUSB, 3.2 megapixel camera
with flash, 3.5mm headphone jack and an optical trackpad along with BlackBerry keyboard.

Dell “Venue Pro” Coming On Dec 14

A months ago Dell Venue Pro has handed on.Now you can order for this WP7 which will be shipping this December 14.The 8GB version is available now but not the 1GB version available in order.Some Microsoft stores saw a very limited launch of the Dell Venue Pro earlier this month, and a much wider launch is expected.

For the new reader i recap the features of this phone once again.

It’s a 4.1-inch display and a slide-out keyboard. The smartphone runs Windows Phone 7, and will run mobile versions of Microsoft’s Office suite software for business users to view or write documents.

In addition,the handset comes with a 5-megapixel camera and is powered by a 1GHz processor from Qualcomm. In the future the company also plans to launch a smartphone resembling the Dell Venue Pro based on Google’s Android OS, though the company hasn’t announced a release date for the product.

Venue Pro is showing on Dell’s website with a ship date of 12/14 and a price of $149 with a new two year contract, or $499 if you want to buy outright. If you do buy it outright, it’ll still work on T-Mobile 3G, but not AT&T 3G.

The application has two components

* Desktop application – used to build a custom XAP package with 5 custom ringtones you select from your computer(Requires .NET 4.0 Framework)
* XAP application – to be deployed to your WP7 to install custom ringtones to the system

Notes

* Ringtones have to be in the WMA format at 48KHz as required by the OS. We recommend using Expression Encoder 4(free) to transcode any MP3s.

* Currently, to deploy the XAP you will have to use the Microsoft “Application Deployment” tool with the Windows Phone 7 Developer SDK. In the future, we hope to make available a standalone deployment solution for homebrew apps.

With this new hack, Yankeyan programmed OpenKinect drivers to recognize motions as virtual button presses for a Nintendo Emulator. He mentions:

“I could have placed a simulated keypad right in front of me that I can press with my hands, but I thought full body gestures were more in the spirit of Kinect. Of course, Mario isn’t designed to be played like this, so this is really really hard.”

RedSn0w is available for both Windows and Mac OS X.

If you want to Jailbreak iPhone 3GS/3G iOS 4.2.1 and update iPhone 3GS or 3G to baseband 06.15.00 using RedSn0w 0.9.6b5 here i’m giving you the complete step by step guideline.

The steps are as follows:

Step 1: Download RedSn0w 0.9.6b5 for Windows or Mac,iOS 4.2.1,iOS 4.1, and iTunes 10.1.

Step 2: Connect your iDevice to the iTunes 10.1 and restore iOS 4.2.1/4.1.

Step 3: Once your iPhone is running iOS 4.2.1/4.1, execute the downloaded RedSn0w 0.9.6b5.

Step 4: Hit the Browse button and select the downloaded iOS 4.2.1/4.1 firmware. RedSn0w will recognize the firmware, now hit the Next button.

Unlock iPhone 3G(S) on iOS 4.2.1 with Ultrasn0w and Redsn0w[How To Guide]

iPhone Dev Team has already released UltraSn0w 1.2 to unlock iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3G, 3GS using Reds0w and Ultrasn0w.Here is the step by step guideline to unlock iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3G, 3GS using Reds0w and Ultrasn0w.

First you have to update the baseband to iPad 06.15 and jailbreak the iPhone with Redsn0w. After the device is jailbroken,you can use Ultrasn0w from Cydia to unlock the device.

Warning: Read the instructions carefully before start the procedure.

1. There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple. You’ll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.
2. If some future baseband comes out with a critical fix, you won’t be able to update to it if it remains down in the 05.xx sequence (then again, you wouldn’t update to it if you wanted to keep your unlock anyway).
3. Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail). You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs (then again, if you’re unlocker you should already be doing that).

The steps are given below.

Step 1: Download iOS 4.2.1 for your idevice.

Step 2: Download iTunes 10.1 and install it on your PC.

Step 3: Back up all the contents on your phone before you start the actual jailbreak process.

Step 4: Save the SHSH blobs if you are still on iOS 4.1 or below version.

Step 5: Update/restore your device to iOS 4.2.1 via iTunes.

Step 6: Download Redsnow 0.9.6 beta 4 and run it.

Step 7: When asked for iOS firmware, point the redsn0w to iOS 4.2.1 downloaded in first step.

Step 8: Click on next and select “Install Cydia” and “Install iPad Baseband” options. Optionally you can also select any other option available for your idevice.

Step 9: At this step make sure that your phone is switched off and plugged into the computer. Follow the onscreen instructions to put the idevice into DFU mode.

Step 10: Let Redsn0w do its work. Once completed your phone will restart and you will find it jailbroken on iOS 4.2.1.

Now if you have iPhone 3GS New bootrom you will have to connect it with Resnow and select the “Just boot tethered right now” option to get the jailbreaked state on every boot.

How to Unlock with Ultrasn0w 1.2:

After your device is jailbroken using the above mentioned procedure, open the Cydia App and search for Ultrasn0w. Install it and reboot your device. Your device is now unlocked.

UltraSn0w 1.2 Released By Dev Team To Unlock iPhone & iPad on iOS 4.2.1 With Baseband 06.15

iPhone Dev Team Kept their promise. They have released Updated version of UltraSn0w to unlock iPhone & iPad. The new UltraSn0w 1.2 will unlock all iPhone 3GS(old Bootrom), 3G and iPad with baseband 06.15. Dev Team Spokersman MuscleNerd tweeted about this.

For anybody in iOS 4.2.1 should have 06.15, Then you could use RedSn0w to jailbreak then unlock using UltraSn0w 1.2. Today we’re pleased to announce our free carrier unlock for iPhone3G/3GS owners with a baseband later than 05.13.04. The unlock for that baseband exploited the AT+XAPP command, thanks to a crash initially discovered by @sherif_hashim (@Oranav also found this crash). So what hole are we exploiting today, since Apple closed that AT+XAPP hole? Well, we’re exploiting the exact same hole!

It turns out that the very first iPad firmware 3.2.2 has baseband version 06.15.00 still vulnerable to AT+XAPP. The iPad baseband is built for the exact same baseband chip as the iPhone3G/3GS — they’re fully compatible! Some of us have been running 06.15 for weeks now on our iPhones in preparation for this release.

Since 06.15 is a higher version than 05.14 or 05.15 (where AT+XAPP is gone), anyone stuck at those versions can simply upgrade to 06.15 to unlock again! Luckily for us, Apple *still* provides the iPad FW 3.2.2 with this vulnerable baseband right from their own servers. (Grab it now, before they take it down!)

We’ve been busy updating both PwnageTool and redsn0w to make the baseband update as seamless as possible.

First up is “PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition”. It has a special dialog box which will ask you if you want to update to the iPad baseband. You must already have the iPad 3.2.2 IPSW on your computer (see the above link)….so just point PwnageTool at it (or let it find it on its own if you’re in “simple” mode).
Directly after PwnageTool 4.1.3 is available, the official ultrasn0w repo http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com will be updated with ultrasn0w 1.2, which covers iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and now 06.15.00.
Finally, we’ll release an update to redsn0w today for those without Macs and can’t run PwnageTool. The new redsn0w will give you the option to update your baseband to 06.15 too.

WARNING — YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES OF UPDATING TO 06.15.

If you have an iPhone3GS with an old bootrom, the new redsn0w will handle 4.2.1 for you (in fact it covers 4.2.1 for all devices, even though some of them are still tethered at 4.2.1 until @comex can work some untethering magic). iPhone3GS users with old bootroms who want to go to 4.2.1 should not use this PwnageTool! Update to stock 4.2.1 first, then use the upcoming redsn0w to update your baseband.

How to change your customization code for update:

You need your phone to be rooted,use superoneclick 1.5.0. Newest versions do not work at X8. The attached archive X8win is the superonelick 1.5.0. Enable usb debugging (settings->applications-development) and connect the phone to your pc. If you do not have drivers for the debug mode you can use the ones from the “X8 drivers”. After you have the drivers installed ,usb debug enabled and phone connected start superoneclick.exe and press root. You may need to wait 5 or even 10 minutes for it to complete. Wait until you see “Your device is rooted” popup.
Install root explorer. Start root explorer. Open the “system” folder. In the upper right corner of root explorer you will see “Mount R/W” button. Press it. Now go to the build.prop file. Long press on it and select “Open in text editor”. You should edit the following items:

Sony has nevertheless decided to offer its set-top box model that is available on sale now, considering the fact that it is only less than a month old.

So looking at this price cut, even if it is permanent, it can be safely deduced that the average customer will actually think of turning towards Google’s TV service, only because of the fact that they will be getting a fairly attractive price even if majority of the most loved content is currently not available on this platform.
