So you thought that the iOS 4.2 release was the only pleasant news that Apple had in store for you? If Yes, then hear this through – Apple has rolled out an update for its iPhone locating app called Find my iPhone. The update besides making the app work nicely with iOS 4.2 aka iOS 4.2.1 also makes the app available as a free download which I know is just what you wanted from Apple.
The changelog for the Find My iPhone app goes as follows:
- iPhone 4, iPad, or 4th generation iPod touch owners can use Find My iPhone for free with their Apple ID (iOS 4.2 required)
- Support for 30 additional languages
- Important: this update is required for users of the previous version of Find My iPhone app (v1.0 and v1.0.1)
The name of the app does give you the impression that it works with iPhone only, whereas in reality it works all iOS enabled includes which includes your favorite music player as well as the magical Apple Tablet.
For me, it doesn’t make sense that owners of iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G only get to use this iPhone locating app without having to own a MobileMe account while owners of the previous device still have to remain glued to their MobileMe account.
